Some of these films I had seen before John Adams, but in all honesty Stephen never really stood out.  I do remember him in The Hours, but his name was only vaguely familiar, and he's difficult to recognize from film to film. I believe this is partly due to him being blessed with a most unusual and expressive face.  He can look like three different men even within the same scene, and his incredible acting ability has conspired to make him one the most unrecognizable actors in history!

Once I was finally on to him, however,  I set about watching everything I could get my hands on.  Since his real love is apparently the stage, his film work isn't extensive, and he doesn't seem to give a rat's ass about that.  Naturally this only endears him to me, but as a lover of good acting, I also selfishly wish that he would share more of himself, in roles that are deserving of his ability.

I believe John Adams is, without a doubt, the crown jewel in his collection.  I've never been particularly fascinated with Jefferson, but Dillane's portrayal was just riveting. Even among such colorful historical characters and the talented cast who played them,  I couldn't get enough of TJ, and had to find more movies with this interesting actor.

If I had to pick just three, his performances in John Adams, The Hours, and Nine Lives interest me the most, but the latter two are of short duration.
