Ryan's
talent just astounds me. He's
only in his twenties and hasn't done a lot films yet, but his work so
far is pretty amazing. As hotshot attorney Willie Beachum in
Fracture
he even steals the scenes from Anthony Hopkins, and his Oscar
nom for Half Nelson was well deserved. At 18 he was so disturbing
as a Jewish
skinhead in The Believer that his own mother walked out of the
film. For Lars and the Real Girl he gained some weight
to play
a sweet but mentally ill guy in love with a sex doll, in a surprisingly
thoughtful film. I can't wait to see what he comes up
with next.
